Dell Vostro V130 and Alienware M17x

Dell showed us their complete line-up of laptops powered by next-gen Intel Sandy Bridge chipsets last week-end and of the lot, I specifically liked the design of the Alienware M17x and the Dell Vostro V130.

Actually, these models aren’t really that new except for the hardware inside them. The external design are pretty much similar to the previous generation.

The Alienware brand was bought by Dell many years ago and the M17x represents the ultimate portable laptop in gaming (apparently there’s a bigger M18x). The new M17x also now has 3D support (via a bundle and specific graphics card).

You can configure the M17x with a Core i7 2820QM 2.3GHz, 16GB RAM, 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6970M, 512GB (2x256GB SSD) or 1.5TB (2x750GB HDD) that could rack up to $4,100.

Unfortunately, Dell Philippines does not yet carry the Alienware brand in the country so fastest way to get it is via Dell Direct or but it in the US or SG.

Coming in from the V13, the Vostro V130 is the same design with more power in it. It’s a shame Dell still does not have Dell Direct (their online store) up for the Philippines until now.

The Vostro V130 is a business laptop, so you don’t see Dell Philippines selling them to regular folks but I really liked the thin form factor. It’s also what is left of the premium Dell Adamo line (the closest I mean). Configuration tops at a Core i5 470M, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD or 500GB HDD which could set you back up to $810.
