RIM launches BlackBerry Bold 9790 in Indonesia

RIM keeps on stressing that this is a first for them — to have a global product launch in Asia. And they picked Indonesia for the obvious reason that this is a BlackBerry country (with around 38% market share). And so we saw the BlackBerry Bold 9790 unveiled to the media this evening, along with the Curve 9380.

While the Bold 9900 remains the flagship handset, the BlackBerry Bold 9790 is considered a more affordable and smaller counterpart.
BlackBerry Bold 9790 specs:

• 2.45″ capacitive touch screen display @ 360×480
• QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad
• 1.0 GHz processor
• 768 MB RAM
• 8GB on-board memory,
• microSD slot supporting up to 32GB
• NFC technology
• 5MP camera w/ 720p HD video recording
• GPS with aGPS support
• WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
• Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
• 1230 mAh Li-Ion battery
• BlackBerry 7 OS

The design of the Bold 9790 is somewhat close to the original Bold 9780 and the Curve 9360.
The BlackBerry Bold 9790 will first be available in Indonesia starting November 25, 2011 and be followed by Singapore in December. We might see it in the Philippines early next year.
