Amazing Alex is proof the Rovio isn’t a one trick pony

Many wondered if Angry Birds developer Rovio could successfully make another game to match their runaway hit, Angry Birds. Well, Amazing Alex hasn’t matched Angry Birds total downloads and revenue, but it’s currently poised to do that. If you haven’t checked it out yet, we’ll lay down Amazing Alex’s premise for you: it’s basically a physics puzzle game where you construct Rube Goldberg-esque contraptions to achieve objectives. Like Angry Birds, the game is simple to learn and is extremely addictive, and will definitely suck a bunch of your time if you’re not careful.

The game has risen swiftly since its release last Thursday – the paid, 0.99$ is currently best selling iPhone app in 35 countries, and it’s climbing swiftly up the Google Play store, where it sits at 11th place. Curiously, Amazing Alex didn’t start its life inside Rovio’s walls – the game was acquired by the company back in 2011 when it was known as Casey’s Contraptions, and was relaunched as Amazing Alex with noticeably more polish and flair. We’ve included the official links for the game if you’re interested in trying it out: iOS peeps can click here, while Android owners can go here for the game.
