Along with the iPhone 5, Apple also announced their new 5th
generation iPod Touch. The 5th generation iPod Touch is unsurprisingly,
thinner than the previous device, and is only 6.1mm thick and weighs in
at only 88 grams. It looks similar to the previous offering, but carries
the same 4-inch display of the iPhone 5,
as well as the new dock connector. The 5th generation iPod Touch is
powered by Apple’s A5 dual-core processor, and Apple says it delivers 7x
faster graphics than the old iPod Touch. Apple promises up to 40 hours
of music playback on the new iPod Touch, with 8 hours of video.
The iPod Touch also gets a new, 5-megapixel iSight camera that’s
backside illuminated and has a f/2.4, 5-element lens. Surprisingly, Siri
will now make an appearance on the iPod Touch, a first for the
software. The 5th generation iPod Touch will come in raw aluminum,
black, blue, yellow and red. The 5th generation iPod Touch will be $299
for the 32GB version and $399 for the 64GB version. The 5th generation
iPod Touch will ship this October.
