Last week we were expecting a triumvirate of Windows Phone 8 from
HTC, but apparently it’s just a tandem as the company formally unveils
the HTC 8X and the HTC 8S.
So it seems that the rumors didn’t quite get their arms around their
information because besides the lack of an alleged entry level WP8
device in the form of 8V, they also got some of the specs of both the 8X
and 8S wrong. So why don’t we take a step back and see the official
specs of both the HTC 8X and 8S.
Judging from the specs alone, we can safely say that the Nokia Lumia
920 and 820 has the upper hand against these two HTC WP8 smartphones. Of
course, price will
also play a big factor in the marketability of these phones, but we’d
have to wait for the official launch for us to know to that.
The new Lumias and HTC 8 series handsets shares something in common,
they’re all vibrantly colored. As far as we know the HTC 8X and 8S will
be available in 4 color variants, but there’s a chance that there could
be more. It’s Limelight Yellow, Flame Red, California Blue and Graphite
Black for the 8X while Atlantic Blue, Fiesta Red, High-Rise Grey-Yellow
and Domino Black-White for the 8S.
All is not lost for the HTC 8V, if ever there is one, because HTC may
still consider making a WP8 for the budget conscious market just like
what Nokia did with the Lumia 610. But that’s the least of HTC’s worries
for now as they’ll have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to make the 8X
and 8S standout against the better equipped Nokia Lumia 920 and 820.
