Sony has put in some more thought on their high-end ultraslim laptop to make it much closer to Macbook Air thin-ness, which is why they made Sony Vaio Z loose some weight by shedding off the ODD.
The new Vaio Z 2011 comes with a Power Media Dock which houses the optical disk drive and a discrete graphics card. The Vaio Z is also the first laptop, outside of Apple, to sport the new Thunderbolt technology.
The 13-inch laptop weighs only 2.6lbs and 21.8mm thick.
The Vaio Z can be configured to run a dual-core mobile Core i7 processor, dual SSD drive up to 256GB and up to 8GB of RAM. Add to that an optional 3G model and 1.3MP webcam with an Exmor lens.
We don’t expect this unit to be anywhere near affordable — a retail price of Php120k to Php150k, based on Sony’s previous pricing is what we can offer to guess.
