It looks like the demand for the Asus Transformer went beyond the available supply in the Philippines that retailers have jacked up the prices of the tablet above the suggested retail price set by Asus Philippines.
The suggested retail price of the Asus Transformer is supposed to be Php22,995 for the tablet only and Php29,995 for the tablet and keyboard dock. However, retailers like Asianic are selling them at Php25,995 and Php33,995, respectively and padding as much as Php4,000 on top of the SRP.
Asus Philippines admitted that the delay of the Eee Pad Transformer is due to the global demand of the tablet. This could also mean that the supply that arrived in the Philippines has not satisfied the current demand, prompting retailers to take higher margins for the limited number of units they can sell.
