Dell outs the XPS 15z, a stylish yet powerful 15-inch notebook

We seldom equate big laptops with a stylish look. Heavy duty performance yes but with a look to go with it? Hmmm. Well, Dell recently announced their XPS 15z notebook which is powerful 15-inch notebook with looks that won’t shame you if you bring it out of your room. It’s not light but it’s beautiful to look at and very thin for its class. It’s their thinnest 15-inch even.
The eye-catching exterior is made up of a clean aluminum and magnesium-alloy with chrome trimmings and brushed finishes. It has an unconventional hinge position and the slot-loading drive adds more style. The inside features a spacious, backlit keyboard with well-spaced chiclet keys between the speaker grills. No dedicated Page Up, Page Dn, Home, End keys here though and I wonder why.

The Dell XPS 15z is powered by 2nd-generation Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors with a 15.6-inch Full HD WLED (1920 x 1080) display. It also has NVIDIA discrete graphics (GT 525M) with Optimus technology to automatically switch to integrated graphics when discrete is not needed to save on battery. Speaking of battery, Dell claims you can go up to 8-hours worth on a single charge of its 8-cell battery, something rare for a 15-incher.

So how much do you need to shell out to own one of this? How about Php62,000 for the Core i5 (2430M) version with 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD? Want the Core i7 (2640M) version, prepare to hand over Php89,900 for it and you’ll also get 8GB RAM with a bigger 750GB HDD.
