Lenovo announced ThinkPad X1, the company first Hybrid notebook featuring the Instant Media Mode powered by a second processor and operating system. The notebook is powered by choices of Core i3/i5/i7 processors and comes with a 13.3-inch 1366×768 display with Corning Gorilla Glass.

As a hybrid notebook, the new ThinkPad X1 can boot into Instant Media Mode (IMM) running on a Qualcomm dual-core processor. The IMM features a custom Android-based operating system and has 16GB of memory. Using the Instant Media Mode, the laptop works like a smartphone and doubles battery life to up to 10 hours. The X1 Hybrid laptop also includes Rapid Charge2, technology that charges the battery up to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. It includes also Dolby Home Theater v4 sound, HDMI port and Intel Wireless Display technology.
Coming in Q2 2012, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Hybrid will start at about $1599.
