Samsung S8600 Wave 3 first impressions

We received Samsung’s unique, Bada powered Wave 3 earlier today, and we couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of the device. We’ve handled the past two iterations of the Wave before, back when AMOLED equipped smartphones were few and far between.
The overall look of the Wave 3 stays true to the original devices – sleek, unassuming and easy to hold. You won’t find crazy, stylized, razor thin designs here: the Wave 3 is like the Toyota of smartphones – solid and dependable.
The Wave 3 uses a Super AMOLED capacitive 4-inch touchscreen like so many other devices that Samsung has these days. It utilizes the Korean firm’s own operating system named Bada (Korean for Ocean, Sea) which is now in it’s second version. To be honest, the OS felt extremely similar to Android, especially with the TouchWiz UI layered on top.
Like Android, users will also be able to download apps to use with this particular device, though the app count is significantly lower. The Wave 3 is powered by a single core 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor.

That’s it for now. We’ll be reviewing this particular device on the magazine in the coming months. Check out our upcoming April issue for the whole lowdown.
