Yahoo confirms third party credentials part of security breach, Gmail, AOL and Hotmail users affected

Remember that security breach that hit Yahoo yesterday? Well, it seems that the problem is a lot worse than we first thought. It seems that other email addresses have been pilfered as well – probably because they were the ones used to sign up for Yahoo’s Voice service. Marcus Carey, a researcher at Rapid7, has combed through the data pasted by the group D33Ds and found that there are 106,000 Gmail e-mail addresses, 55,000 Hotmail e-mail addresses and 25,000 AOL e-mail addresses associated with the pilfered Yahoo Voice accounts. Like we said, if you’re a current Yahoo Voice subscriber, it’s extremely important that you change your password immediately, as well as the password that’s associated with the email address you used to sign up for the service. If you’re someone who uses the same password across multiple sites and services, it is imperative that you change your passwords NOW.
