The Samsung Xcover type of phones are usually those cheap, candybar dumbphones that could withstand your occasional bumps, drops and exposure to rain and dust — in short they are your rugged phones. Something that doesn’t really equate to being a smartphone until Samsung showed up at the IFA with their Galaxy Xcover which was announced early last month.
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover is your typical mid-range Android phone with a rugged exterior making it suitable for active or just plain clumsy people. It runs on an 800Mhz processor with Android Gingerbread, has a 3.65″ HVGA Gorilla Glass touchscreen display, 3-megapixel camera with a flash that also doubles as a flashlight. Then there’s the IP67 certified dust proof, shock and water resistant exterior.
We’ll keep you posted when Samsung decided to bring this phone here which I think they would to bolster their Android phone portfolio.
