Clarion announced the Next GATE (model SC1U), a in-car smartphone controller for iPhone that allows users to control approved iPhone applications optimized for in-vehicle use. The Next GATE can be installed on windshield, and it works with iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. You are able to access TuneIn, Pandora music services as well as INRIX Traffic with up-to-the-minute insight into the fastest routes; and InfoGation that guide you to your destination with turn-by-turn navigation with full screen maps and graphics. Using Vlingo voice recognition app, users can also do hands-free calling, voice dialing and even access Facebook and Twitter.
The Next GATE features a 7-inch WVGA touch LCD display, blue LED buttons and indicator, Bluetooth support for hands-free calling, built-in speaker, and microSD card slot as well as AUX audio output. The controller uses 12-volt power adapter. It comes with a 360-degree adjustable suction mount. Coming in 1 June, the Next GATE is priced at $269.99.
