It may be a billion dollar company but Google is not all success. Its most notable failures were in the social networking sphere but it has also been doing some cleaning up recently. The new services to get the axe from Google are the following:- Google Bookmarks Lists
- Google Friend Connect
- Google Gears
- Google Search Timeline
- Google Wave
- Knol
- Renewable Energy Cheaper than Coal (RE<C)
Here’s what Google said about its decision to shut down these services.
We’re in the process of shutting a number of products which haven’t had the impact we’d hoped for, integrating others as features into our broader product efforts, and ending several which have shown us a different path forward. Overall, our aim is to build a simpler, more intuitive, truly beautiful Google user experience.
