Plextor adds to its SSD line the new M5S series SATA III solid state drives. Using 25nm NAND flash and server-grade Marvell 88SS9174 controller, the M5S is intended to deliver high performance, offering up to 520MB/s read and 390MB/s write speeds and up to 73,000/70,000 IOPS read/write performance. It uses SATA III 6Gbps interface.
The Plextor M5S is available in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB capacities, which have 128MB, 256MB and 512MB DRAM cache memory, respectively. The 2.5-inch SSD supports TRIM command, S.M.A.R.T., and data encryption. According to Plextor, with the True Speed technology, the drive will maintain the same, consistent high performance and speed -even after years of usage.
Plextor M5S will be released in late Q3.
